I've heard our brains finish developing somewhere between 21-25 years old and that our personalities aren't finished developing until we're 35 years old. Which is to say it takes us 10 years or more to accept everything going on in our head and get a good grasp of how to best utilize it.
For the past 24 days I've been teaching myself piano. I can only play with my right hand, but I can play When the Saints go Marching In off of sheet music. It feels like I'm sending my brain back to the drawing board, which is mentally exhausting, but shouldn't that be a great thing? If I can push the development of my brain, am I also pushing the development of my personality?
I hope my personality never fully develops.
I hope I can always surprise myself for the better.
